Lead, Embedded Software Engineer (Optical Space Systems)

Location: Wilmington, Massachusetts, United States; onsite work. Relocation assistance is available to qualified applicants.

Salary: $135,000–$250,500 per year. A sign-on bonus of up to $30,000 may be included.

What you will do

• Lead the design and implementation of real-time embedded flight software for space-based imaging payloads.
• Develop algorithms, controls, and embedded subsystems for aerospace applications.
• Integrate and test flight systems at the software and hardware levels.
• Contribute across requirements analysis, architecture, coding, documentation, unit testing, integration, and verification.
• Create test plans, procedures, traceability reports, test cases, state charts, sequence diagrams, and other UML artifacts.
• Collaborate with engineers on solution planning, code reviews, and mission integration.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field with at least 9 years of relevant experience; alternatively, a graduate degree with 7 years of experience or 13 years of experience without a degree.
• Embedded software development, system design, debugging, and integration experience in aerospace applications.
• Experience with RTOS platforms such as VxWorks, FreeRTOS, RTLinux, or QNX.
• Proficiency in C/C++, Python, and scripting, with experience using simulators such as TSIM, VxSIM, SIMIC, or MATLAB Simulink.
• Experience with embedded command and control, microcontrollers, serial communications, and distributed messaging.
• Ability to obtain a U.S. security clearance; security clearances may only be granted to U.S. citizens.

Nice to have

• Active Top Secret or TS/SCI clearance.
• Experience with MBSE, DevOps, Jenkins, continuous integration, cFS/CFE, BSPs, bootloaders, device drivers, and bare-metal development.
• Knowledge of space payload systems, optical systems, telescopes, image processors, cameras, IR detectors, and motion-control hardware.
• Experience with ARM, Intel x86, Raspberry Pi, Arduino, SoC platforms, FPGAs, Versal, or MicroBlaze.
• Familiarity with cybersecurity compliance tools, OMS, and UCI standards.
