Exterior Lighting Product Engineer (Automotive)

What you will do

• Design, develop, integrate, and validate automotive exterior lighting systems, including headlamps, taillamps, CHMSL, fog lamps, and license plate lamps.
• Develop lighting concepts, fixtures, and small-lamp CAD using CATIA V5, 3DX, and Teamcenter.
• Design optical systems and apply injection molding, design-for-manufacturing, materials, and GD&T knowledge.
• Perform laboratory diagnosis, validation, durability testing, root-cause analysis, and permanent corrective actions using 8D and 5 Why methods.
• Manage design releases, technical documentation, feasibility studies, cost and weight analyses, and vehicle-level interface validation.
• Collaborate with suppliers and cross-functional engineering teams, lead design reviews, and travel to supplier and manufacturing sites in North America when required.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience designing, developing, or launching automotive lighting or similar components.
• Experience with CATIA, 3DX, Teamcenter, CAD studies, CAE tools, 3D modeling, optical engineering, electrical engineering, and injection molding.
• Knowledge of manufacturability, technical analysis, packaging studies, dimensional stack-ups, GD&T, validation, and functional testing.
• Ability to perform root-cause analysis, manage multiple technical issues, prioritize workload, and work with suppliers.
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally; proficiency with Microsoft Office, Teams, and Azure SharePoint.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in Engineering and 7+ years of experience.
• Exterior lighting design and release, software literacy, and mechatronics experience.
• Experience with statistical analysis, DFMEAs, PFMEAs, SCCAFs, 8D, and 5 Why problem-solving.
• Strong understanding of materials, manufacturing technologies, and complex system issue resolution.
