TL;DR
Design Engineer (Automotive): Designing and developing vehicle accessory components and interior systems from concept through production release with an accent on CAD modeling, validation, supplier coordination, and automotive product development. Focus on leading feasibility reviews, creating DFMEAs and engineering documentation, resolving design issues, and supporting prototype builds and production launches.
Location: Southfield, Michigan, USA; onsite role with permanent authorization to work full time in the United States required

What you will do
- Design and develop automotive accessory components and interior systems across interior, exterior, performance, and lifestyle categories.
- Create CATIA CAD models, engineering drawings, DVP&R documentation, DFMEAs, validation plans, and engineering releases.
- Support product development from concept and feasibility through validation, tooling, prototype builds, and production launch.
- Lead supplier reviews, feasibility assessments, sourcing support, and tooling discussions.
- Collaborate with Design, Manufacturing, Quality, Purchasing, Marketing, Program Management, and suppliers.
- Drive issue resolution, cost optimization, continuous improvement, and mentor junior engineers as needed.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience developing automotive interior components and systems.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Product Design Engineering, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience with automotive design, validation, release, and launch activities.
- Strong CATIA V5/V6 or equivalent CAD software proficiency, including 3D modeling, packaging studies, and engineering drawings.
- Experience with DFM/DFA evaluations, APQP, GD&T, DFMEA, tolerance stack-ups, supplier management, and cross-functional leadership.
- Applicants must already have permanent US work authorization; visa sponsorship is not available.

- Experience supporting multiple vehicle launches from concept through production.
- Premium or luxury automotive experience.
