Robotics Autonomy Engineer - Triage (Robotics)

Location: Irvine, California, United States; Workplace: On-site. Occasional travel to deployment sites is required.

Salary: $100,000–$200,000 per year

What you will do

• Triage reports from field deployments and customer sites, assess impact, and determine whether issues should be fixed, routed, or tracked.
• Reproduce robot behaviors from logs, telemetry, and recordings in simulation and on hardware.
• Identify root causes across perception, localization, planning, control, and system integration, then ship targeted fixes.
• Convert fixes into regression tests, scenarios, and hardware-in-the-loop checks.
• Build tooling for log analysis, event detection, and trend tracking across robots and deployment sites.
• Run release test campaigns, communicate findings to owning teams, and support field deployments.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Robotics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• At least 2 years of experience working on autonomous systems in industry or research.
• Strong debugging skills across autonomy stacks, including sensors, drivers, planning, and control.
• Programming experience with C++ and Python in Linux-based environments.
• Familiarity with ROS or ROS 2.
• Experience analyzing logs, telemetry, and recorded robot data and communicating findings clearly.

Nice to have

• Experience with release testing, validation, quality engineering, or automated test infrastructure for autonomous systems.
• Experience building simulation-based regression pipelines or hardware-in-the-loop test setups.
• Experience with robot-data pipelines, event detection, incident management, or defect tracking.
• Field experience with deployed robots or autonomous vehicles, including legged, wheeled, or humanoid platforms.
