Director of External Reporting & Technical Accounting

Location: New York, NY, United States. Relocation assistance may be available, including travel and company-provided housing for the first 90 days.

Salary: $205,000–$235,000 fixed annual salary. Target total compensation: $246,000–$282,000, including equity and bonus.

What you will do

• Own the preparation of external financial statements, footnotes, and related disclosures.
• Lead technical accounting positions across segment reporting, EPS, stock-based compensation, revenue recognition, and business combinations.
• Research complex transactions and prepare clear, auditable technical memos.
• Build the reporting calendar, disclosure controls and procedures, tie-out processes, and accounting policy library.
• Lead new accounting standard adoption, external co-source workstreams, auditor interactions, and audit committee reporting.
• Manage, mentor, and develop the technical accounting and external reporting team while partnering with FP&A, Legal, and equity administration.

Requirements

• 15+ years of progressive experience in external reporting and technical accounting.
• CPA certification required.
• Expert knowledge of US GAAP and SEC reporting requirements, including Regulation S-X and Regulation S-K.
• Experience with complex technical positions in multi-business-unit organizations.
• Experience with disclosure controls and internal controls over financial reporting.
• Hands-on leadership skills and exceptional written and verbal communication, especially for technical memo drafting.

• Big 4 public accounting and issuer reporting experience.
• Experience preparing a company for public company reporting or supporting a registration statement.
