Field Application Engineer (Defense & Security)

Location: Hickory, NC, United States; national and international travel is expected.

Salary: $80,000–$95,000 per year; 10% bonus.

What you will do

• Support sales by explaining product capabilities and ensuring a strong customer experience.
• Lead the technical setup of tests, demonstrations, and training sessions.
• Act as the technical point of contact for sales teams in the field.
• Create and update course materials, application notes, white papers, and other technical content.
• Test defense and security products based on customer usage patterns and assist with technical support issues.
• Bring field feedback and customer challenges to cross-functional engineering teams.

Requirements

• Education or professional experience in a technical field, preferably with hands-on experience in robotics or cybernetics.
• 2–5 years of experience in a similar role, technical support, customer support, or software development.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical topics clearly to customers.
• Systematic, structured, independent, and solution-oriented approach with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Strong written and spoken Norwegian and English.
• Class B driver’s license.

Nice to have

• Defense-domain knowledge, especially experience using sensors in military contexts.
• Interest in drones and the ability to operate them.
• Experience adapting technical solutions to customers with different levels of expertise.
