Senior Counsel (Privacy & Regulatory)

Location: Fully remote; candidates residing in the United States or Europe are currently prioritized

Salary: $180,000–$300,000 USD annually; salary ranges are global and paid in local currency

What you will do

• Advise product, engineering, marketing, and trust & safety teams on content safety, consumer protection, intellectual property, privacy, and data security regulations.
• Provide product counseling for web hosting, site creation, content publishing, ecommerce, social media, and digital advertising products.
• Advise on data protection, privacy laws, consent frameworks, and compliance documentation.
• Track upcoming regulations, participate in industry groups, and represent hirify.global before regulators and government agencies.
• Develop policies that support freedom of expression and user safety while meeting legal requirements.
• Design scalable legal compliance processes and workflows.

Requirements

• JD from a US-accredited law school and 5+ years of relevant experience, or qualification as an EU-based attorney.
• Experience with open source, user-generated content, web hosting, social media, ecommerce, digital advertising, and related product, privacy, and regulatory requirements.
• Knowledge of data protection and privacy frameworks, including GDPR and CCPA.
• Ability to provide clear, actionable recommendations with incomplete information and work independently in an asynchronous environment.
• Willingness to expand into areas such as litigation or intellectual property when needed.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with the Digital Services Act, UK and Australian Online Safety Acts, EU AI Act, and worldwide age-assurance laws.
• Experience with content safety, trust & safety, or regulatory engagement.
