Manufacturing Engineering Intern

Location: Tijuana, Mexico; onsite

Company

Manufacturing operations in commercial refrigeration, with collaboration across engineering, production, quality, maintenance, materials, and safety functions.

What you will do

• Support Manufacturing Engineering and Production teams with daily manufacturing activities.
• Analyze production processes, manufacturing data, and KPIs to identify productivity, quality, safety, and efficiency improvements.
• Conduct or support time studies, cycle-time analysis, capacity analysis, line balancing, and workstation optimization.
• Develop and update work instructions, SOPs, process documentation, visual aids, reports, and presentations.
• Participate in Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, waste reduction, continuous improvement, process audits, and root-cause analysis.
• Support implementation and validation of new processes, equipment, fixtures, tooling, and New Product Introduction activities.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electromechanical, Process Engineering, or a related engineering field.
• Preferably in the final semesters of the degree program.
• Basic academic knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, manufacturing processes, standard work, quality tools, production KPIs, and problem-solving methodologies.
• Knowledge of time and motion studies, cycle-time analysis, line balancing, process flow diagrams, 5 Why analysis, and Fishbone/Ishikawa diagrams.
• Microsoft Excel at an intermediate level is preferred, along with Microsoft PowerPoint and Word.
• Intermediate English is preferred for understanding technical documentation and communicating basic manufacturing information.

Nice to have

• Power BI, AutoCAD, and basic ERP/MRP systems knowledge.
