2027 Graduate Software, Firmware & AI Engineering Internships - US (AI)

Location: Rancho Cordova, California, United States; San Jose, California, or other U.S. hirify.global locations depending on the internship assignment

Compensation: up to USD 35 per hour

What you will do

• Design, develop, test, and maintain software tools and infrastructure for engineering workflows and product development.
• Contribute to firmware features, embedded software, test environments, and debug workflows for SSD and storage technologies.
• Apply machine learning, data analysis, and AI-assisted workflows to improve engineering productivity and validation efficiency.
• Build automation frameworks and scripts for firmware testing and regression execution.
• Validate software and firmware functionality, analyze failures, and support root-cause analysis.
• Analyze test results, logs, and performance metrics while collaborating with firmware, software, validation, and hardware teams.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a Master's or Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Experience with Python, C, C++, Java, or another programming language.
• Familiarity with Linux-based development environments and Git.
• Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a technical team environment.
• Work must be performed at a U.S. hirify.global location based on the internship assignment.

Nice to have

• Experience with firmware development, embedded software, or low-level systems programming.
• Familiarity with SSDs, NAND flash, NVMe, PCIe, or storage systems.
• Experience with software validation, test automation, regression frameworks, Python or shell scripting, and CI/CD tools.
• Exposure to AI/ML concepts, LLMs, AI agents, or applied machine learning workflows.
• Familiarity with performance analysis, log analysis, or telemetry.
