Utility Construction Inspector - General Construction

Location: Onsite in Morgan Hill, California, with possible headquarters transfers and travel throughout the PG&E service territory

Salary: $53.42 per hour

What you will do

• Inspect contractor-installed plastic distribution systems and smaller underground projects for compliance with drawings, specifications, and company standards.
• Coordinate scheduling and scope changes with company management, contractors, customers, and other workgroups.
• Monitor excavation, pipe handling and installation, backfill, site restoration, utility locating, compaction testing, and environmental protection measures.
• Maintain public and employee safety by participating in contractor safety and pre-construction meetings.
• Complete inspection records, quality assurance and quality control documentation, and accurate as-built records.
• Travel and transfer to changing headquarters across the service territory, potentially remaining away from home for extended periods.

Requirements

• At least 18 years of age.
• Valid California driver's license by the first day of employment.
• Ability to work in extreme weather, drive safely in all road conditions, and work extended hours, nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to wear company-provided personal protective equipment.
• API 1169 certificate and ability to pass federally mandated random drug and alcohol testing.
• Ability to apply quality management and quality assurance/control methods, including ISO-based systems.

Nice to have

• At least one year of utility, military, or related experience.
• NACE CP2 Cathodic Coating Inspector Level 1 certification.
• PowerPathway program graduation or relevant PG&E and Hiring Hall experience.
• Computer data entry experience and residence within 50 miles of the headquarters location.
