Senior Software Engineer - Accounting & Ledger Systems (Crypto)

Location: Full-time onsite at the Toronto office, Canada

Salary: $200,000–$220,000 USD annual base salary, plus equity and an annual performance bonus

What you will do

• Design and extend core double-entry ledger primitives, including accounts, postings, and ledger structures.
• Own the chart of accounts and reporting interfaces connecting engineering data with financial statements.
• Build balance verification, reconciliation, and proof-of-reserve mechanisms across on-chain data and off-chain books.
• Partner with Engineering, Finance, Data Engineering, and Product to model legal ownership, ledger placement, pricing, and reconciliation paths.
• Design extensible data models for financial products such as margin, lending, staking, and tokenized assets.

Requirements

• 5+ years of backend software engineering experience.
• Practical knowledge of double-entry bookkeeping, chart-of-accounts design, financial statements, reconciliation, and audit requirements.
• Experience owning data-model design for systems where correctness is critical.
• Strong system-design skills, including extensible schemas and APIs.
• Ability to review technical designs across multiple systems and communicate effectively with Finance, Data Engineering, and Product.
• Availability for full-time onsite work at the Toronto office.

Nice to have

• Experience with crypto or blockchain infrastructure, custody, wallets, or on-chain balance models.
• Experience with event-driven or Kafka-based service architectures.
• Experience in accounting architecture or financial-systems design reviews at a fintech or crypto company.
