Product Manager, API Platform (AI)

Location: Hybrid, four days per week in the Mountain View or San Francisco office

Salary: $175,000–$195,000 annual base salary, with potential variable compensation, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Own the design and evolution of public APIs and SDKs, including versioning, deprecation, and backward compatibility.
• Define the end-to-end developer experience across authentication, onboarding, first API calls, error handling, rate limiting, webhooks, and edge cases.
• Build sample applications, run integrations, and identify product and documentation issues through hands-on testing.
• Analyze support tickets and forum discussions to identify recurring developer experience problems.
• Define and track metrics including time-to-first-call, integration success rate, API error rates, adoption, and usability.
• Set API contracts and product requirements before engineering begins and manage scope during delivery.

Requirements

• 5+ years of product management experience, ideally in platform, developer experience, API, SDK, or partnership-driven products.
• Strong technical ability with API contracts, request payloads, logs, telemetry, and engineering tradeoffs.
• Experience building or leading robust, scalable APIs and SDKs for external developers.
• Strong understanding of developer interfaces, resource design, machine-readable errors, documentation, and developer workflows.
• Experience working with customer and partner developers and integrating products with third-party enterprise applications.
• Clear writing skills, metric-driven product management, and enthusiasm for AI.
