Senior Mainframe Systems Engineer – z/OS

Location: Hybrid role based in Dearborn, Michigan, United States

What you will do

• Design, operate, maintain, and troubleshoot enterprise IBM mainframe, high-performance computing, and hybrid/cloud environments.
• Develop and maintain infrastructure solutions, monitoring capabilities, secure virtualized environments, and resource-management processes.
• Install, customize, test, document, and support independent software vendor products, collaborating with vendors and IBM technical support.
• Code in Assembler to develop and support system modifications and MVS/JES exits.
• Analyze and resolve z/OS software and hardware issues, including support for USS, WebSphere, RACF, and mainframe hardware configurations.
• Support capacity planning, disaster recovery planning and testing, rotational 24x7 incident support, and Level 1–3 customer service.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and 10+ years of IT experience, including 8+ years of development and system programming experience.
• Extensive experience with mainframe systems, z/OS, dump analysis, SMP/E, SMF, USS, Omegamon, MVS/JES exits, and problem resolution.
• Working knowledge of z/OS internals in JES2 or JES3 environments, ISPF, TSO, JCL, and IBM utilities.
• Experience supporting ISV products from vendors such as CA Technologies, BMC, SAS, and IBM.
• Experience with corporate security policies and disaster recovery for z/OS environments.
• Ability to work overtime across shifts, weekends, and holidays, including rotational 24x7 support.

Nice to have

• Proficiency in Assembler, REXX, CLIST, and SAS.
• Experience with RACF, Microsoft Access, PowerPoint, and Project.
