Senior Mainframe Engineer (IBM z/OS)

Location: Hybrid role based at one of eight United States locations: Vienna, VA; Pensacola, FL; Winchester, VA; San Diego, CA; Virginia Beach, VA; Jacksonville, FL; Dallas, TX; or Sandy Springs, GA.

Salary: $114,500–$179,500 annually.

What you will do

• Design and implement highly available mainframe platforms with a focus on system management and operational standards.
• Develop and deliver mainframe and distributed automation strategies that reduce manual intervention.
• Partner with technology teams to reengineer processes as they move onto the mainframe platform.
• Lead automation and orchestration of repeatable administration tasks, improving reliability and reusability.
• Provide consulting support, automation standards, best practices, and technical documentation with diagrams.
• Participate in an on-call rotation supporting 24/7 operations.

Requirements

• Expert experience with IBM System Automation for z/OS, including administration, configuration, policy development, managed resource automation, and policy database maintenance.
• Advanced REXX programming experience for enterprise automation solutions, command processors, operational tooling, and scripts.
• Strong experience with IBM NetView, automation tables, message automation, command lists, PIPEs, event processing, and policy-driven automation.
• Experience automating z/OS subsystems and middleware, including CICS, Db2, IMS, JES2/JES3, MQ, and TCP/IP.
• Knowledge of Parallel Sysplex, cross-system automation, JCL, SDSF, TSO/ISPF, z/OS operations, and IBM Workload Scheduler.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or equivalent education and experience.
• Experience with OMEGAMON situation development, GDPS and disaster recovery automation, SMP/E, Ansible, REST APIs, or mainframe modernization.
