Operations Manager (Environmental Laboratory)

Location: 600 Technology Way, Scarborough, ME, United States; onsite laboratory role.

Salary: USD 80,000–100,000 annually

What you will do

• Manage the daily operations of an environmental health and safety laboratory, including extraction and analysis, sample management, and client services.
• Coordinate laboratory staff, instrumentation, and support resources to maximize sample throughput and meet turnaround times.
• Maintain data quality, operational efficiency, housekeeping, security, environmental practices, and compliance with industry standards.
• Lead, train, motivate, and manage employee performance while promoting safe laboratory practices.
• Work with technical staff and functional support groups to resolve client issues, plan budgets, and address resource needs.
• Ensure laboratory strategy, staffing levels, documentation, and quality expectations are implemented effectively.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a science-related field or equivalent experience.
• At least 5 years of progressive laboratory management experience.
• Knowledge of environmental testing protocols and certifications.
• Strong leadership, interpersonal, written, verbal communication, and time management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, coordinate resources, and solve complex operational problems independently.
• Dependable presence and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced professional laboratory environment.
