TL;DR
Lead AV Engineer (AV systems and live production): Designing and owning audiovisual standards, meeting-room technology, and high-profile event productions across Gusto's multi-site office footprint with an accent on control systems, streaming, audio/video routing, and Google Meet migration. Focus on architecting reliable production systems, automating room health and documentation workflows with AI, and directing complex live events under failure-sensitive conditions.

Location: San Francisco, CA — hybrid, with office attendance approximately 2–3 days per week or more depending on the role. The role is San Francisco based and includes travel to hirify.global sites and event-hours flexibility.

Salary: $185,000–$208,000 annual cash compensation for San Francisco.

What you will do

  • Design, program, test, troubleshoot, and implement audiovisual systems across offices, meeting spaces, and event venues.
  • Author the company-wide AV standard covering room tiers, signal flow, control systems, cameras, lighting, and event production.
  • Architect and direct executive meetings, customer events, all-hands meetings, fireside chats, onsites, and podcast productions.
  • Lead the AV workstream for the migration from Zoom to Google Meet across more than 200 conference rooms.
  • Own the multi-site capital roadmap, vendor relationships, office buildouts, upgrades, and AV SaaS administration.
  • Use AI and automation for room health reporting, documentation, show-control logic, platform analysis, and vendor evaluation while coaching support and event teams.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of AV engineering experience, including senior-most or design-owning responsibility in a multi-site organization.
  • Experience producing designs of record, including room tiers, signal flow, rack elevations, and control narratives.
  • Technical direction experience for high-stakes executive-fronted or external-facing live events, including failover planning.
  • Deep expertise in AV control, audio, video, lighting, AV-over-IP, streaming, meeting-room platforms, and network architecture.
  • Experience with Google Meet, Zoom Rooms, Neat, Logitech, Dante, live-streaming platforms, PTZ and broadcast cameras, show programming, and post-production tools.
  • Experience owning AV budgets, capital roadmaps, integrator and manufacturer relationships, and negotiated technical tradeoffs.

Nice to have

  • QSC control-system experience; Crestron, Biamp, and Extron experience.
  • Experience with Barco E2, Ross Ultrix, Blackmagic ATEM, AWS MediaLive, AWS MediaConnect, Wirecast, vMix, OBS, QLab, Stream Deck, Bitfocus Companion, OSC, and DaVinci Resolve.
  • Familiarity with Sony Cinema Line cameras and ETC, Paradigm, Martin, or Chroma Q lighting systems.
