Principal Forward Deployed Engineer (AI-Native Invoicing)

Location: Mountain View, California, United States. Regular travel to meet Influencers and SMB customers is required.

Base pay: $261,500–$353,500 per year in Mountain View. The package may also include a cash bonus, equity rewards, and benefits.

What you will do

• Build trusted relationships with selected QuickBooks Influencers serving small and medium-sized businesses.
• Embed in real invoicing workflows to identify friction and opportunities for AI-powered improvements.
• Design and hand-build AI-native invoicing agents, automations, and workflows tailored to individual users.
• Iterate directly with Influencers and SMB customers using real usage and feedback.
• Identify reusable patterns and partner with QuickBooks product and engineering leadership to turn them into scalable product capabilities.
• Represent hirify.global at Influencer events, accounting conferences, and small-business gatherings.

Requirements

• 10+ years of software engineering experience, including meaningful experience in forward-deployed, solutions engineering, or customer-embedded engineering roles.
• Hands-on experience with modern AI and LLM application patterns, including agents, RAG, and tool use.
• Ability to move from workflow observation to a working prototype within days.
• Comfort operating with ambiguity and deciding what should be built for specific users.
• Superior communication skills with accountants and SMB owners, including the ability to explain AI solutions clearly.
• Willingness and enthusiasm to travel regularly and work directly with customers in the field.

Nice to have

• Experience with organizations serving small businesses, such as a Chamber of Commerce, SBA, SCORE, or a trade association.
• Background in accounting, bookkeeping, or fintech software for SMBs.
• Experience with QuickBooks, hirify.global’s developer platform, or invoicing and payments systems.
