TL;DR
Sr Regulatory Specialist (Regulatory Strategy) (Utility Regulation): Evaluating regulatory and legislative issues, developing analyses for rate filings and cost recovery, and supporting regulatory compliance for an electric utility with an accent on financial analysis, records management, and regulatory policy. Focus on preparing filings and testimony, analyzing accounting and financial impacts, monitoring regulatory proceedings, and coordinating complex cross-functional initiatives.

Location: Hybrid role associated with Chicago and Oakbrook Terrace, Illinois

Salary: $84,800–$116,600 per year; eligible positions may receive a 15% annual bonus

What you will do

  • Evaluate business and strategic issues affected by state and federal regulatory and legislative environments.
  • Develop quantitative and qualitative analyses supporting executive decision-making, business plans, rate filings, cost recovery, and regulated revenue generation.
  • Prepare data, written testimony, reports, responses to information requests, and supporting materials for regulatory audits and post-filing activities.
  • Administer records and information management, commitments tracking, retention, retrieval, and destruction practices.
  • Support regulatory compliance, data privacy, data sharing programs, hearings, proceedings, and meetings.
  • Collaborate with regulatory, finance, accounting, treasury, legal, operational, and support functions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field such as business, economics, finance, accounting, or engineering, or 6–9 years of related business experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Five or more years of electric and/or gas utility experience, primarily in regulatory, rates, accounting, financial, or strategic planning areas.
  • Ability to analyze complex regulatory issues and prepare written and oral reports for management.
  • Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams with minimal supervision and under tight time constraints.
  • Preferred: seven or more years of utility experience, including five or more years working with regulatory filings.
  • Preferred: advanced degree in accounting, finance, business, economics, law, or public policy.
