Salary: CAD 109,254.75–147,815.25 per year

What you will do

• Characterize reagent and therapeutic protein candidates using mass spectrometry and liquid chromatography.
• Maintain and oversee mass spectrometry, liquid chromatography instrumentation, and laboratory processes.
• Perform intact, sub-unit, and peptide protein analyses to confirm identity, sequence, and modifications.
• Train protein biochemistry staff on sample preparation and submission, and troubleshoot instrumentation, software, and data interpretation.
• Design, develop, implement, transfer, and qualify LC-MS and LC-MS/MS methods.
• Analyze data using automated workflows and maintain organized analytical files.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Molecular and Cellular Biology, or a related discipline with 5 years of scientific laboratory experience; or a related master’s degree with 2+ years of laboratory experience; or a PhD.
• Experience with mass spectrometry and chromatography.
• Experience in protein analytics, including intact, sub-unit protein mass, and peptide analysis.
• Proficiency with QTOF and Orbitrap mass spectrometers and UPLC instrumentation.
• Ability to follow laboratory protocols and data standards with strong attention to detail, communication, and organization.
• Residence in the Greater Vancouver Area and availability for onsite work in Burnaby are required.

Nice to have

• Experience supporting instrument users and working with LC-MS data acquisition and analysis software such as MassHunter, Byos, Proteome Discoverer, MASCOT, or Xcalibur.
• Experience handling and analyzing large datasets.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and electronic notebooks.
