Sr Data Engineer (Cloud)

Location: Remote, Washington, United States

Salary: $141,800–$173,300 annually; full pay range $110,100–$204,900 annually, plus performance-based incentives.

What you will do

• Design, develop, test, debug, and document complex cloud-native data solutions and integration services.
• Build secure, cost-effective, scalable batch, near-real-time, and API-based data pipelines.
• Develop prototypes and proof-of-concept solutions while contributing to cloud modernization and data platform strategy.
• Implement data governance, metadata management, data quality, lineage, master data, and data curation practices.
• Improve CI/CD, automated testing, code quality, monitoring, observability, and engineering standards.
• Collaborate with architects, product owners, governance, security, and platform teams; lead technical discussions and mentor engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• At least 5 years of data engineering experience and 4 years of experience with Python, Scala, Java, or SQL.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP and modern data platforms including Microsoft Fabric, Azure Databricks, BigQuery, or Snowflake.
• Experience with ETL/ELT, SQL, data modeling, data warehousing, ODS, data lakes, Lakehouse solutions, and cloud data integration tools.
• Experience with Azure services, Azure DevOps, GitHub, Git, code reviews, pull requests, and established branching standards.
• Ability to lead design discussions and deliver scalable solutions across the software development lifecycle.

Nice to have

• Financial services experience, including banking, lending, deposits, payments, or risk management.
• Experience building AI-ready data products and supporting AI agent architectures.
• Experience with GitHub Copilot, Azure OpenAI, Azure AI Search, Copilot Studio, AI Foundry, or MCP integrations.
• Knowledge of master data management, metadata, data quality, lineage, impact analysis, data cataloging, and governance tools.
• Experience with test-driven development, technical presentations, and leading cross-functional delivery teams.
