Senior Data Engineer (Insurance)

Location: Remote within the United States; U.S. territories excluded. Reliable, high-speed internet required.

Salary: $140,000–$175,000 USD annually

What you will do

• Build complex, reliable, and well-tested data pipelines for structured and semi-structured data.
• Design and maintain Data Vault 2.0 warehouse models that support downstream marts, analytics, pricing, underwriting, servicing, and financial reporting.
• Administer and optimize Snowflake, including warehouse sizing, query performance, access controls, RBAC, user and role management, and cost governance.
• Build resilient Airflow DAGs and CI/CD pipelines with predictable deployments and safe rollbacks.
• Implement automated unit, integration, and data-quality testing, and own production observability, alert tuning, incident response, and reliability improvements.
• Lead technical projects and cross-team initiatives, translating business needs into technical solutions and communicating trade-offs with stakeholders.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience as a software engineer or data engineer focused on data systems.
• Advanced SQL skills and proficiency in Python for production-grade data pipelines.
• Hands-on Snowflake administration experience, including warehouse management, RBAC, role design, access controls, and cost governance.
• Experience designing modern cloud data warehouses and modeling data in Snowflake, Redshift, or BigQuery; Data Vault 2.0 experience is strongly preferred.
• Experience with production testing frameworks and data observability tools.
• Experience leading technical projects end-to-end, working in regulated environments, and developing expertise in insurance concepts such as premium, loss, and policy lifecycle.

Nice to have

• Deep Data Vault 2.0 experience; strong dimensional modeling experience is also relevant.
• Experience with AI coding assistants such as Claude Code, Cursor, or Snowflake Cortex.
