Senior Data Engineer (AI)

Compensation for comparable specialist-level data engineering roles: $150K–$290K annually.

What you will do

• Design and build scalable data pipelines and architectures for reliable data ingestion, transformation, and serving.
• Own pipeline development end to end, from requirements gathering through production deployment, monitoring, and incident response.
• Partner with data scientists, analytics teams, and product engineering to translate data needs into robust technical solutions.
• Lead data quality initiatives, including validation frameworks, testing strategies, and monitoring.
• Optimize infrastructure for cost, latency, reliability, and future scale.
• Document lineage, transformation logic, and operational runbooks while mentoring junior engineers.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional data engineering experience and ownership of production data systems at scale.
• Hands-on experience with cloud data warehouses such as Snowflake, BigQuery, and Redshift.
• Experience with orchestration platforms such as Airflow, dbt, and Prefect, plus distributed processing frameworks.
• Ability to design maintainable, high-throughput architectures that balance performance and cost.
• Production-grade programming skills in Python, Scala, SQL, or similar languages, with strong version control, testing, and code review practices.
• Experience collaborating across data science, analytics, and engineering and maintaining production systems through incidents and scaling challenges.
