FPGA Designer

Location: Ottawa, Canada — on-site

Salary: $93,400–$133,400 CAD per year, with final compensation based on experience, skills, and qualifications.

What you will do

• Design FPGA control and datapath logic and configure and integrate IP cores.
• Create test plans and simulation environments, support debugging, and improve simulation coverage.
• Collaborate with hardware and firmware engineers on cross-functional integration, lab validation, and system-level performance testing.
• Develop scripts for automated testing and perform synthesis, constraint implementation, timing analysis, and optimization.
• Create and maintain design, test, and project documentation.

Requirements

• Experience with ASIC or FPGA design and simulation using Verilog or SystemVerilog.
• Experience with synthesis, constraints, timing analysis, and clock domain crossing.
• Experience with AMD (Xilinx) or Altera FPGAs and related tools.
• Ability to collaborate across hardware, firmware, algorithms, and product verification teams.
• Strong coding, troubleshooting, debugging, communication, and documentation skills.

Nice to have

• SystemVerilog Assertions, advanced verification methodologies, and coverage analysis.
• Embedded processor SoC design, PCIe, DDR memory, or AXI interfaces.
• Digital signal processing knowledge.
• VHDL, C, Csh, Tcl, Python, Perl, or Linux development experience.
