Software Development Engineer (C/C++/VxWorks)

Location: Mississauga, Ontario, Canada; in-field support and some travel are required.

Salary: CAD 70,000–85,000 per year.

What you will do

• Design, develop, test, and maintain software applications for naval and military systems.
• Translate functional specifications and high-level requirements into defined software capabilities.
• Develop software according to approved design documents and support enhancements and defect resolution.
• Maintain bug tracking information, software user manuals, requirements descriptions, design descriptions, and test plans.
• Provide in-field support, collaborate with engineers and technical staff, and contribute to improved programming practices.
• Follow quality management, health and safety, and documentation procedures.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 1–3+ years of software development or related technical experience.
• Programming experience in one or more of C, C++, Java, or Python.
• Experience with real-time operating systems, particularly VxWorks and Linux.
• Familiarity with version control, software design, debugging tools, basic testing methodologies, and software engineering best practices.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills; experience with servo drive applications and complex naval system requirements is expected.

Nice to have

• VHDL programming experience for FPGA development.
