Senior/Staff Software Engineer

What you will do

• Develop and maintain a next-generation multi-physics well-targeting engine.
• Design and deliver reliable distributed computing systems for scientific research teams.
• Scale and improve the reliability of an existing compute platform.
• Build fault-tolerant, resilient event-driven architectures and orchestration systems for cloud workloads.
• Collaborate with geophysicists, geoscientists, seismologists, and engineers on geothermal discovery problems.
• Share distributed-systems expertise while learning domain concepts related to modeling the Earth's subsurface.

Requirements

• At least 7 years of software engineering experience in a business environment.
• Experience leading the design and implementation of distributed computing systems.
• Experience with serverless platforms, Kubernetes, custom VM fleets, persistent storage, RDBMS, and cloud blob storage at scale.
• Experience with logging, monitoring, alerting, metrics, cloud resources, and infrastructure architecture on GCP or AWS.
• Familiarity with CI/CD, GitHub, Docker, Terraform, or Pulumi.
• Fluency in Python and SQL is required; the position is based in Salt Lake City and is hybrid.

Nice to have

• Experience with experiment tracking, optimization methods, applied algorithms, reinforcement learning, or other AI/ML techniques.
• Web development experience and familiarity with geoscience concepts and applications.
