C++ Software Engineer (Endpoint State & Control)

Location: Remote work is available only to candidates located in the USA and residing in CA, CO, CT, FL, GA, IL, KS, MA, MD, ME, NJ, NC, NY, OR, TN, TX, VA, or WA. Chicago city limits are excluded. Hybrid work is available through offices in Austin, Texas, and Tampa, Florida.

Salary: $85,000–$110,000 per year for roles based in California, Colorado, Maryland, New Jersey, Washington, or New York.

What you will do

• Build and own testing infrastructure and test coverage for two active C++ systems.
• Contribute to feature development for endpoint state and control projects.
• Develop software that defines, enforces, and maintains endpoint behavior and security posture.
• Work with systems-level concepts including operating-system APIs, processes, file systems, and services.
• Collaborate in a domain where requirements and technical solutions are still being discovered.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical field.
• 1–3 years of C++ experience with knowledge of memory management, RAII, STL, smart pointers, and build systems.
• Experience writing or maintaining automated C++ tests using Google Test, Catch2, CTest, or an equivalent framework.
• Interest in systems-level software and the ability to learn new systems, APIs, and patterns through documentation, code reading, and mentorship.
• Comfort adapting workflows to incorporate AI tools.
• Must be located in the USA and in an eligible state; the position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

Nice to have

• Windows systems programming experience, including Windows APIs, WINAPI, WinBase, Registry access, or process management.
• Familiarity with CMake and vcpkg, mocking or dependency-injection frameworks, and structured CI test pipelines.
• Experience with cross-platform C++ for Windows, macOS, or Linux.
• Background in or interest in endpoint protection, antivirus, or system hardening.
