Software Development Engineer II- Trust Intelligence (FinTech)

Location: Seattle, Washington, United States; hybrid schedule with onsite work Tuesday through Thursday each week and additional office attendance as needed.

Salary: $144,000–$180,000 annual base salary, plus equity and other compensation components.

What you will do

• Architect and scale distributed data systems and Kafka- and Spark-based pipelines for high-throughput, low-latency risk signals.
• Define technical strategy for SQL and NoSQL databases, storage patterns, streaming architecture, and AWS cost optimization.
• Design data models, feature delivery mechanisms, feature stores, and infrastructure for real-time decisioning and analytics.
• Build data integrity, observability, feature anomaly detection, and drift detection capabilities while meeting financial data privacy standards.
• Partner with data scientists, ML engineers, and risk leadership to support model deployment and automated retraining.
• Mentor engineers, lead architecture reviews, establish engineering standards, and drive large technical initiatives.

Requirements

• 6+ years of professional software engineering experience building production-grade, scalable data systems.
• Experience designing large-scale distributed systems, making architectural trade-offs, and applying data warehousing and data lake principles.
• Expertise in Python, Java, Scala, or Go, plus hands-on experience with Spark, Snowflake, Kafka, and Airflow.
• Experience building and optimizing distributed systems on AWS, including services such as Kinesis, S3, EMR, Redshift, or DynamoDB.
• Experience with low-latency streaming applications and leading complex technical initiatives from conception through production and deprecation.
• U.S.-based hybrid work is required, with onsite attendance Tuesday through Thursday.

Nice to have

• Experience designing data infrastructure for machine learning pipelines, including feature outlier and drift detection.
• FinTech, fraud, or risk-domain experience involving adversarial data, high-volume transactions, or compliance requirements.
