Senior V&V Engineer – Closed Course & Proving Grounds (Autonomous Vehicles)

Location: Santa Clara, California, United States; onsite five days a week

Salary: $160,000–$260,000 per year

What you will do

• Plan and execute closed-course proving-ground test programs for software features, hardware platforms, and safety-critical fallback maneuvers.
• Set up and operate robotic equipment and soft targets in controlled test environments.
• Develop and execute V&V plans, provide triage feedback, and track issues through resolution.
• Analyze vehicle-dynamics data, IMU outputs, CAN logs, and autonomy telemetry using Python and MATLAB.
• Enforce track safety procedures, risk assessments, and emergency intervention protocols.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Automotive Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or Systems Engineering.
• 5+ years of vehicle-level closed-course testing on proving grounds for autonomous vehicles, ADAS, or automotive OEMs.
• Direct experience operating soft-target robotic platforms.
• Proficiency with CANoe, CANape, Dewesoft, and Wireshark.
• Strong Python scripting skills for log parsing and test-metrics generation.
• Demonstrated adherence to proving-ground safety regulations and risk-mitigation practices.

Nice to have

• Experience testing commercial trucks or heavy machinery.
• Knowledge of ISO 26262 track validation and UNECE/NCAP active-safety test protocols.
