Android Team Lead, New York (Contractor)

What you will do

• Lead the technical direction and delivery of client engagements while remaining hands-on with system design and coding.
• Design, implement, test, and deliver Android applications for consumer banking.
• Build and modernize mobile capabilities for customer onboarding, account management, and money movement.
• Guide architecture, development practices, CI/CD adoption, and technology improvements.
• Collaborate with clients, product owners, designers, users, technologists, and leadership to deliver business-aligned solutions.
• Develop engineers' autonomy and effectiveness while proactively managing delivery risks.

Requirements

• 10–12+ years of experience designing and building complex commercial-grade software systems.
• 4+ years of experience leading Agile teams.
• Expert-level Android development with Kotlin and Jetpack Compose.
• Experience in consumer banking, including account management and onboarding.
• Experience integrating RESTful APIs and third-party libraries.
• Knowledge of mobile UI/UX principles, Agile development, CI/CD pipelines, and stakeholder communication.

Nice to have

• Experience with fraud management, KYC, AML, or regulatory reporting.
• Experience with on-device biometrics and published Google Play applications.
• Computer Science degree or equivalent experience.
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as Claude, Claude Code, or Copilot.
