Field Service Engineer, Midwest (Minneapolis, MN)

Location: Field-based in the Midwest; candidates must currently reside in the Minneapolis–Saint Paul metropolitan area of Minnesota. Significant regional travel and occasional travel elsewhere in the United States are required.

Compensation: $33.00–$35.50 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.

What you will do

• Commission, troubleshoot, repair, and analyze SMA utility inverters through email, telephone, and on-site service visits.
• Work with high-voltage DC electricity, three-phase power, and inverter software and firmware.
• Perform and maintain operation and maintenance activities according to product maintenance manuals and customer contracts.
• Develop detailed knowledge of SMA utility inverter products, accessories, and third-party equipment.
• Maintain accurate spare-parts inventory and support customer satisfaction while reducing field-service costs.

Requirements

• Current residence in the Minneapolis–Saint Paul metropolitan area of Minnesota.
• At least three years of experience in electrical, electronic, and/or network communications work.
• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or equivalent experience in the renewables industry.
• Ability to work nonstandard hours and schedules when required by customer service contracts.
• Ability to meet significant regional travel requirements and routinely lift up to 50 pounds.
• Applicants must be authorized to work full time in the United States. Visa sponsorship is not available, including H-1B, OPT, CPT, and TN visas.
