Field Support Specialist (Eastern Region) (Solar)

Location: Full-time onsite at a jobsite, with approximately 75% travel throughout the Eastern region

Salary: $38.72–$50.34 per hour

What you will do

• Perform advanced troubleshooting, corrective maintenance, testing, and repair of solar equipment and systems with minimal supervision.
• Support multiple facilities as a regional technical resource for escalated issues, non-conformance items, and complex system-level failures.
• Test and repair low-, medium-, and high-voltage systems, including inverters, combiners, trackers, MV equipment, and substation-adjacent components.
• Use SCADA, system monitoring applications, and plant data to diagnose equipment- and system-level issues.
• Support root cause analysis and recommend improvements to prevent repeat failures.
• Coordinate corrective maintenance with site personnel, field service leads, the Operations Control Center, project management, and other stakeholders.

Requirements

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent; at least three years of experience in utility-scale solar or a related electrical power industry.
• Strong corrective maintenance, electrical testing, and troubleshooting experience, including utility-scale solar systems, PV arrays, inverters, transformers, protection devices, control systems, and balance-of-plant equipment.
• Ability to troubleshoot network, communications, and telemetry issues and interpret electrical schematics, one-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, field drawings, and as-built documentation.
• Valid OSHA 10 and NFPA 70E Safety Training certifications; OSHA 30 is preferred.
• Effective written and verbal English communication, strong documentation skills, and the ability to work independently at remote sites in extreme weather conditions.
• Valid driver’s license, satisfactory driving record, ability to operate a company vehicle, extensive travel availability, and willingness to work on call, including weekends or after hours.

Nice to have

• Associate degree or certificate in electronics, electrical technology, or mechanics.
• Substation training or certifications.
• Inverter Field Application Specialist certifications or other relevant electrical certifications.
