TL;DR
Labor Relations Summer Intern 2027 (Labor Relations): Supporting labor relations projects, collective bargaining agreement interpretation, grievance procedures, labor claims conferences, and local negotiations with an accent on researching agreements, arbitration decisions, and formal responses. Focus on resolving labor disputes, building relationships with union leaders and internal operations customers, and supporting employee engagement in a heavily unionized workforce.

Location: Fort Worth, Texas; hybrid work with office, remote, and some field activities. Relocation is required for candidates located more than 50 miles from the assigned location.

Monthly salary: $4,500

What you will do

  • Support Labor Relations projects while job-shadowing Labor Relations officers.
  • Research collective bargaining agreements and arbitration decisions to support agreement interpretation.
  • Assist with grievance procedures by researching and writing responsive letters and formal briefs.
  • Support labor claims conferences and local labor agreement negotiations.
  • Build relationships with Operations stakeholders and rail union leaders.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen employee engagement across a heavily unionized workforce.

Requirements

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship, including H-1B, STEM OPT/CPT, or TN sponsorship.
  • At least 18 years old upon hire.
  • Pursuing a bachelor's or graduate degree in Labor Relations, Labor Studies, Employment Relations, Business, Management, Legal Studies, Industrial Relations, Human Resources, or a similar field.
  • Maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 2.75.
  • Have less than three years of professional work experience or military service, excluding internships, part-time jobs, and positions held while studying.
  • Have reliable transportation to and from the assigned BNSF location.

Nice to have

  • Currently enrolled as a second-year J.D. student.
  • Prior experience in Labor Relations, Business, Human Resources, Legal, or a related field.
  • Leadership experience in a campus, community, or extracurricular organization.
