TL;DR
SETA Systems Engineer (Mid): Supporting threat-informed systems engineering and analysis for national security space decisions with an accent on space threat assessment, mission thread analysis, and modeling and simulation. Focus on translating intelligence into technical requirements, evaluating space and ground architectures, planning test and evaluation activities, and reducing technical risk across the acquisition lifecycle.
Location: On-site in Chantilly, VA or Reston, VA; minimal travel; standard 40-hour workweek
Salary: $156,200–$187,000 per year. Additional compensation may include bonuses, incentives, sign-on bonuses, and relocation benefits.

What you will do
- Support threat-informed mission engineering, end-to-end mission thread analysis, resiliency assessments, and deployment analysis.
- Develop and execute modeling and simulation cases with STK, AFSIM, Python, MATLAB, or equivalent tools.
- Translate foreign space and counterspace intelligence into technical requirements, MOPs, MOEs, and risk considerations.
- Coordinate analysis with customer mission centers, service components, USSF/SSC, the Intelligence Community, and Combatant Commands.
- Contribute to developmental and operational test and evaluation planning, including test design and evaluation criteria.
- Produce technical assessments, reports, briefings, and SETA support across requirements, architecture, integration, verification, validation, and configuration management.
Requirements
- 5–10 years of experience in space, defense, or Intelligence Community analysis or systems engineering.
- Experience with space mission modeling and simulation tools such as STK, AFSIM, or equivalent.
- Working knowledge of space and ground architectures and their mission, ground, and user segment interactions.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, physics, mathematics, computer science, or a related technical field.
- Active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph required.
Nice to have
- Master’s degree in engineering, physics, applied mathematics, operations research, or a related discipline.
- Experience with MBSE, SysML/UML, digital engineering environments, Python/MATLAB toolchains, or Monte Carlo methods.
- Familiarity with NRO, NSA, NGA, USSPACECOM, and other Intelligence Community or Combatant Command organizations.
