Staff R&D Device Engineer (Semiconductor)

Location: Austin, United States; on-site

Annual salary: $150,000–$210,000, plus equity.

hirify.global is an early-stage hardware startup developing semiconductor fabrication tools, components, hardware, and software in-house.

What you will do

• Design device architectures and tailor novel transistor structures to meet performance specifications.
• Execute tape-outs and test key semiconductor designs.
• Perform I-V/C-V electrical characterization of transistors and MOSCAPs across process splits.
• Analyze electrical and physical data to identify bottlenecks and guide material and process-flow improvements.
• Extract device parameters and build foundational technology performance models.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, Solid State Physics, or a closely related field.
• Rigorous understanding of advanced CMOS/MOSFET device physics and solid-state electronics.
• Deep experience with semiconductor device measurements, including I-V/C-V testing and probe station operation.
• Strong data analysis and scripting skills for accelerating testing and learning cycles.
• Ability to explain complex device physics concepts clearly to cross-functional partners.

Nice to have

• Experience with TCAD, HSPICE, Process Design Kits, or test-chip layout.
• Proficiency in Python or MATLAB for test automation and large-scale data analysis.
• Cleanroom experience and understanding of the full CMOS manufacturing process flow.
• Experience with semiconductor reliability testing, including HCI, NBTI/PBTI, or TDDB.
