System Safety Summer Intern 2027 (Railway Safety)

Location: Fort Worth, Texas, United States. Full-time office-based position; reliable transportation is required. Relocation to Fort Worth is required if located more than 50 miles from the work location.

Monthly salary: $5,250.

What you will do

• Support the System Safety team in operational safety activities for rail transportation.
• Manage reports involving injuries, rail equipment incidents, and highway grade crossing incidents.
• Monitor hours-of-service compliance data.
• Work with Operations departments to compile and review information.
• Produce reports that monitor safety performance.
• Complete a two-day orientation in Fort Worth followed by practical training and department projects.

Requirements

• Legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship.
• At least 18 years old upon hire.
• Currently pursuing a bachelor's or graduate degree in Occupational Safety, Logistics, Transportation, Supply Chain Management, Business, Communications, a technical field, or a similar program at an accredited university.
• Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75.
• Less than three years of professional work experience, excluding internships, part-time jobs, and positions held while pursuing a degree.
• Reliable transportation to and from the assigned BNSF location is required.

Nice to have

• Experience in safety, supply chain, business, logistics, data analytics, or a related field.
• Knowledge of Power BI, Copilot AI, or Claude AI.
• Leadership experience in a campus, community, or extracurricular organization.
• Studies in data science or data analytics.
