Process Development Engineer, Etch (Semiconductor)

Location: Austin, United States; on-site

Salary: $90,000–$180,000 annual, plus equity.

hirify.global is an early-stage hardware startup developing semiconductor fabrication technology, including the hardware, software, tools, components, and processes used to make chips.

What you will do

• Design and run experiments for new semiconductor etching and thin-film fabrication methods.
• Work in the lab alongside senior process engineers and operate etch, deposition, lithography, and metrology systems.
• Develop, transfer, and optimize process recipes across platforms for consistency, yield, and throughput.
• Read academic and technical literature, develop experimental concepts, and iterate rapidly.
• Analyze process data, troubleshoot recipe and equipment issues, and document findings and results.

Requirements

• BS, MS, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
• Hands-on cleanroom experience with multi-step fabrication flows.
• Experience operating dry etch, thin-film deposition, and lithography tools.
• Experience developing and optimizing recipes for dry etch, thin-film deposition, or lithography.
• Familiarity with ellipsometry, profilometry, SEM, and other key metrology methods.
• Ability to work on-site in Austin and comply with applicable U.S. export controls.

Nice to have

• Mechanical or maintenance experience with fabrication tools.
• Full device-flow experience.
