Salary: $108,800–$155,400 per year

What you will do

  • Integrate wafer processing steps and modules into process flows for III-V laser chip products, including Edge Emitting Lasers and VCSELs.
  • Develop and qualify robust process modules for novel chips and high-volume manufacturing.
  • Design, build, maintain, and improve custom optical-table tools involving mechanical systems, optics, and control automation.
  • Act as the process expert for production support and resolve manufacturing issues in real time, including off-hours as needed.
  • Lead chip failure analysis, troubleshoot yield and performance excursions, and identify root causes.
  • Collaborate with R&D, Product Engineering, Testing, Reliability, and foundry teams to improve yield, reduce costs and cycle time, and deliver NPI projects on schedule.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. with 3+ years of applicable hands-on experience, or a Master's degree with 5+ years of applicable hands-on experience, in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Material Science, or a related field.
  • Hands-on expertise in III-V compound semiconductor wafer processing, including optical grating patterning, lithography, dry and wet etching, dielectric and metal deposition, implantation, and diffusion.
  • Proficiency in Excel VBA macros, LabVIEW, and C++, Visual Basic, or Matlab.
  • Experience with statistical data analysis using JMP and Minitab, including Six Sigma methods such as FMEA, capability analysis, SPC, DOE, and design for manufacturing.
  • Experience with semiconductor wafer fabrication in high-volume production, including MES, PMS/QMS, and change management.
  • Strong problem-solving, collaboration, communication, and project delivery skills; availability for round-the-clock fab support when needed.

  • Hands-on experience setting up and maintaining optical benches or systems.
