Staff Process Integration Engineer (III-V Semiconductor)

Location: 100% on-site at hirify.global's facility in San Jose, California, USA.

Salary: $112,050–$160,050 base pay.

What you will do

• Integrate wafer-processing steps and modules into process flows for III-V laser chip products, including Edge Emitting Lasers and VCSELs.
• Develop, set up, and improve process modules and custom optical-table tools involving mechanical, optical, and control-automation programming.
• Support daily production as the process expert, resolve real-time manufacturing issues, and provide round-the-clock consultation when needed, including off-hours support.
• Lead chip failure analysis, troubleshoot root causes of yield, process, and performance excursions, and improve process robustness for high-volume manufacturing.
• Apply statistical data analysis and Six Sigma methods, including FMEA, capability analysis, SPC, DOE, and Design for Manufacturing.
• Collaborate with R&D, Product Engineering, Testing, Reliability, and foundry teams to meet yield targets, reduce costs and cycle time, and deliver NPI projects on schedule.

Requirements

• Ph.D. with 3+ years of applicable hands-on experience, or a Master's degree with 5+ years of applicable hands-on experience, in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
• Comprehensive hands-on expertise in III-V compound semiconductor wafer processing, including optical grating patterning, lithography, dry and wet etching, dielectric and metal deposition, implantation, and diffusion.
• Proficiency in Excel VBA macros, LabVIEW, and one of C++, Visual Basic, or Matlab.
• Expertise in statistical data analysis using tools such as JMP and Minitab.
• Experience with semiconductor wafer fabrication in a high-volume production environment, including Manufacturing Execution Systems, process and quality management systems, and change management.
• Strong problem-solving, collaboration, communication, and project deadline management skills.
• Ability to provide as-needed round-the-clock support and consultation for fab manufacturing activities, including off-hours assistance.
