Nutrition Education Assistant (Nutrition Education)

Location: Corpus Christi, Texas; daily travel to multiple work sites in the county is required

Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service delivers the Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program, providing evidence-based nutrition education to low-income families and youth across Texas.

What you will do

• Recruit adults and youth who meet program guidelines.
• Teach nutrition, food resource management, food safety, and physical activity using approved curricula.
• Deliver lessons in person and virtually to diverse audiences in community locations.
• Prepare food and conduct recipe demonstrations.
• Collect, track, and report program data and maintain accurate activity records.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Experience teaching groups and working with low-resource audiences or community support networks.
• Knowledge or teaching experience in nutrition, food safety, food resource management, and physical activity.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Zoom, and/or Microsoft Teams.
• Ability to communicate effectively, work independently, follow curricula, speak publicly, and maintain accurate records.
• Reliable transportation is required; the agency does not provide transportation. A valid driver’s license and current liability insurance are preferred.

Nice to have

• Bilingual English/Spanish communication skills.
• Familiarity with the local community.
