Staff Software Engineer - Grading Operations (.NET)

What you will do

• Own complex, loosely defined engineering projects from initial design through production.
• Build backend services, RESTful APIs, data models, integrations, and internal applications for grading and authentication operations.
• Design event-driven and asynchronous systems that move operational data reliably at high volume.
• Work across containerized .NET applications, serverless APIs, Python processing jobs, and frontend systems.
• Mentor engineers through design reviews, code reviews, and complex problem solving.
• Collaborate with Product, Technology, and Operations teams, troubleshoot production issues, participate in on-call support, and document technical decisions.

Requirements

• 8+ years of software engineering experience building production applications, with deep backend expertise and hands-on frontend experience.
• 5+ years of experience and strong proficiency in C# and .NET.
• Experience with RESTful APIs, service integrations, automated testing, relational databases, and data modeling using technologies such as SQL Server or PostgreSQL.
• Production cloud experience with containers, orchestration, serverless computing, API gateways, managed messaging, and data stores.
• Experience with JavaScript, HTML, CSS, a component-based frontend framework, CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, monitoring, and observability.
• Must be able to work legally in the United States; employment eligibility is validated through E-Verify.

Nice to have

• Experience with AWS, Python, Kafka, DynamoDB, Vue.js, or test frameworks such as pytest and unittest.
• Experience designing asynchronous, event-driven, distributed, and multi-region systems.
• Experience improving high-volume workflows and working directly with Product, Operations, and business teams.
