Mid-Level Data Scientist (LLM/NLP)

Location: Full-time onsite in Reston, Virginia, United States. U.S. citizenship and an active TS/SCI security clearance with CI polygraph are required.

Salary: $116,000–$154,000–$169,400 annually for the Washington, DC metropolitan area; ranges may vary by state and geographic cost of labor.

What you will do

• Prepare, clean, and process structured and unstructured datasets with senior data scientists.
• Automate ETL workflows and data preparation using Python, SQL, and scripting tools.
• Operate big data environments using Spark, Hadoop, Databricks, AWS Glue, Azure Synapse, or similar technologies.
• Develop and deploy data pipelines with data engineering and DevOps teams.
• Perform statistical analysis, visualization, reporting, and dashboard development using Tableau or similar tools.
• Integrate data into downstream modeling and LLM/NLP workflows, including knowledge management and training-data curation.

Requirements

• Current TS/SCI clearance and willingness and ability to obtain a CI polygraph.
• U.S. citizenship and eligibility under applicable U.S. export-control requirements.
• Five years of professional experience in data science, analytics, or data engineering.
• Bachelor’s degree in data science, computer science, engineering, statistics, GIS, or a related discipline; two additional years of experience may substitute.
• Proficiency in Python and SQL, experience with data-wrangling libraries such as pandas or PySpark, APIs or batch processing, relational databases, and data modeling.
• Experience with Tableau or similar dashboard tools, cloud data services, metadata management, data governance, and detailed technical documentation.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in a technical field.
• Experience with Clairvoyant or similar data-pipeline orchestration platforms.
• Familiarity with Docker, Rancher, Kubernetes, GIS, graph analytics, enterprise architecture, metadata standards, or master data management.
• Basic knowledge of LLM/NLP concepts, responsible AI, and data ethics.
• Experience in agile or cross-functional technical teams.
