What you will do
- Provide daily oversight of molecular workflows producing tumor genomic, germline genomic, and transcriptomic next-generation sequencing data.
- Establish and maintain quality control and quality assurance programs.
- Maintain CLIA and CAP compliance for equipment, reagents, and staff training.
- Review all samples throughout the NGS workflow, from extraction through sequencing.
- Balance turnaround time with sequencing workflow cost optimization.
- Schedule training and competency assessments, mentor junior staff, and work the assigned Sunday-Wednesday, 2:00pm-12:30am shift.
Requirements
- MS in biological sciences with at least three years of experience, or BS in biological sciences with at least five years of experience.
- Professional experience in a molecular laboratory; next-generation sequencing experience is preferred.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of patient-related materials in accordance with HIPAA requirements.
- Ability to plan and carry out scientific programs collaboratively in an interdisciplinary team.
- Excellent communication skills, self-direction, and ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.
