Director, Software Engineering (AI)

What you will do

• Define and execute the engineering vision and architectural direction across backend, frontend, and AI systems.
• Lead development of production-grade AI applications using LLMs, agents, tool-calling frameworks, and workflow orchestration.
• Establish engineering standards for AI-native product development, including evaluation, regression testing, observability, and human-in-the-loop workflows.
• Build, mentor, and scale high-performing engineering teams across multiple product areas.
• Oversee complex cross-functional initiatives and align technology investments with Product, Design, Data Science, and business stakeholders.
• Drive CI/CD, reliability engineering, cloud-native architecture, technical risk management, and platform scalability.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 15+ years of software engineering experience, including 8+ years leading engineering teams and large-scale technical programs.
• Experience building and scaling enterprise-grade distributed systems and cloud-native platforms.
• Strong expertise in Python, C#, Java, JavaScript, or another modern programming language, together with system design, architecture, distributed computing, concurrency, and scalability.
• Hands-on experience developing production AI systems with LLMs, agents, orchestration frameworks, and evaluation methodologies.
• Experience with React, TypeScript, Azure, AWS or GCP, Docker, Kubernetes, microservices, and modern DevOps practices.

Nice to have

• Experience in healthcare technology, financial technology, procurement technology, or enterprise SaaS.
• Experience with RAG, vector databases, retrieval systems, and citation-grounded AI workflows.
• Knowledge of applied machine learning, evaluation-driven AI systems, and quality measurement frameworks.
• Familiarity with Snowflake, data warehouses, analytical ecosystems, or globally distributed engineering organizations.
