Senior Software Engineer (Full Stack)

Location: Fully remote within Canada, with occasional in-person gatherings possible in Vancouver.

Salary: $98,000–$147,000 per year.

What you will do

• Design, build, test, ship, and maintain full-stack features from database to user interface.
• Collaborate with product, design, and engineering to scope and deliver work.
• Debug and resolve issues across systems while driving technical decisions and shaping architecture.
• Scale and unify systems and infrastructure for hundreds of independent publishers.
• Work directly with the CTO on technical strategy, review code, and mentor engineers.
• Own the full development lifecycle of prototypes and production features.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional full-stack software engineering experience.
• Expertise in TypeScript, one or more frontend frameworks, and at least one additional programming language.
• Strong understanding of HTML and CSS.
• Experience with relational databases and API design.
• Ability and willingness to learn languages and frameworks as needed; the environment includes Python, PHP, Ruby, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
• Understanding of application security best practices, including secure coding, CSP, authentication and authorization, XSS, XSRF, and SQL injection.
• Strong communication skills and comfort working in a remote, distributed team.
• Confidence writing unit and integration tests.
• Track record of shipping and owning production systems.
• Ability to own the complete development lifecycle of a work product, from an initially unscope​d prototype to a production feature.
• Comfort using AI coding tools responsibly, including reviewing and taking ownership of generated code.

Nice to have

• Experience in publishing, media, or subscription and membership platforms.
• Experience with Python, PHP, or Ruby.
• DevOps experience with Heroku, Google Cloud, AWS, or Cloudflare.
