Operations Shift Team Leader (Education Operations): Leading high-volume examination processing operations and teams responsible for delivering accurate, secure and timely script processing with an accent on productivity, quality, compliance and workforce planning. Focus on managing permanent and seasonal teams, interpreting operational data, controlling risks and costs, and implementing measurable continuous improvements during peak exam periods.

Location: Milton Keynes, United Kingdom; on-site role

What you will do

  • Lead and develop around six Operations Coordinators and a larger seasonal workforce during peak examination periods.
  • Manage high-volume, time-critical examination processing operations, including scanning centre activities for GCSEs, A-levels, functional skills and formative assessments.
  • Ensure productivity, quality, compliance and service-level targets are achieved across allocated operational areas.
  • Support workforce planning, temporary staff induction and training, capacity planning, budget control and consumables monitoring.
  • Use management information and operational insight to identify trends, manage risks and support evidence-based decisions.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives, quality control activities, process controls and operational readiness checks.

Requirements

  • Experience leading or supervising teams in a fast-paced, high-volume, target-driven, regulated or time-critical operational environment.
  • Strong people leadership, coaching, mentoring and communication skills.
  • Experience managing performance and developing colleagues.
  • Ability to interpret performance data, identify trends, address underperformance and improve operational results.
  • Proactive problem-solving approach with experience implementing improvements to processes, systems or ways of working.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with stakeholders and escalate risks, issues and decisions appropriately.
