Senior Embodied AI Engineer

Location: San Francisco, California, United States. Full-time onsite work in the San Francisco office, five days a week. Domestic relocation assistance is available. Visa sponsorship is not available.

Salary: $123,980–$201,450 per year.

What you will do

• Design, develop, validate, and deploy AI and autonomy capabilities for intelligent robotic systems.
• Apply machine learning, foundation models, computer vision, and related technologies to real-world autonomy challenges.
• Build systems integrating perception, reasoning, planning, learning, controls, and action.
• Design experiments, simulation scenarios, benchmarks, regression tests, and on-machine performance evaluations.
• Optimize software, models, sensors, compute, and system behavior for edge deployment.
• Collaborate across software, hardware, infrastructure, research, validation, safety, and product teams while mentoring engineers and moving research into production.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Robotics, AI, Machine Learning, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of industry experience developing complex software, robotics, AI, or autonomous systems.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals in Python, C++, or similar languages.
• Experience delivering a complex production capability or subsystem from design through deployment.
• Ability to solve ambiguous technical problems, make engineering tradeoffs, and influence technical direction across teams.

Nice to have

• Experience with robotic systems, ROS/ROS2, motion planning, SLAM/localization, manipulation, controls, behavior planning, or multi-machine coordination.
• Experience applying LLMs, vision-language models, vision-language-action models, multimodal learning, or generative AI to robotics.
• Background in deep learning, reinforcement learning, imitation learning, self-supervised learning, or representation learning.
• Experience with computer vision, sensor fusion, object detection and tracking, or 3D scene understanding.
• Experience with distributed or embedded systems, simulation, hardware-in-the-loop testing, observability, or performance optimization.
