Director, Business Systems & Platform Engineering

Location: Remote - USA; must work CST or EST hours

Salary: $240K–$295K, plus equity and bonus

What you will do

• Lead the transformation of the systems and engineering organization toward platform and data engineering.
• Own the technical architecture, design, and delivery roadmap for business systems, enterprise data, and integrations.
• Manage and grow engineering and systems managers and direct reports through hiring, mentorship, career pathing, and succession planning.
• Establish engineering standards, workflows, code review practices, testing discipline, and an AI-enabled operating model.
• Partner with Product, Success, Program Management, and engineering leaders to prioritize and deliver the business systems and data roadmap.
• Review vendor architecture proposals, oversee technical builds, and own security, RBAC, and data governance for business platforms.

Requirements

• 8+ years of software, platform, or data engineering experience, including 4+ years managing engineers and engineering managers.
• Experience leading technically mixed organizations containing software engineers, data engineers, and platform or systems administrators.
• Strong experience with technical architecture and engineering practices, including repository management, CI/CD, code reviews, and regression testing.
• Fluency in event-based and service-oriented architectures using server-side JavaScript or TypeScript, Node.js, and serverless AWS.
• Experience with REST and GraphQL APIs, OAuth, JWT, SQL, Python, data modeling, ETL pipelines, and infrastructure as code with Terraform.
• Remote work from the USA with CST or EST availability is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with AI-centric engineering workflows, Model Context Protocol, autonomous AI agents, and graph databases.
• Experience managing vendors and implementation partners on complex platform builds.
• Architectural and API-level experience with enterprise SaaS platforms for go-to-market or finance operations.
