Financial Analyst III - M&A / Corporate Development

Location: Hybrid position based at the One M&T Plaza office in Buffalo, New York, requiring in-office work four days per week. Some flexibility on location may be available for an ideal candidate.

Salary: $74,600–$124,400 annual, in USD.

What you will do

• Evaluate potential M&A, acquisition, investment, and divestiture opportunities through financial analysis, valuation, risk assessment, and deal structuring.
• Conduct discounted cash flow, market multiples, peer, performance, merger-related, and capital action analyses.
• Build and maintain financial forecasting models and tools, and perform complex analytical research for senior management.
• Coordinate due diligence and collaborate with business units and cross-functional teams across the bank.
• Design projects and potentially lead projects of moderate scope while maintaining documentation, quality, and timely delivery.
• Identify risk-related issues, support internal controls and audit requirements, and follow regulatory standards and policies.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree with at least 3 years of experience, or an Associate’s degree with at least 5 years of experience in accounting, auditing, operations, or financial institutions.
• Comprehensive understanding of finance and accounting concepts and knowledge of the banking industry.
• Strong technical aptitude and advanced financial modeling skills.
• Advanced proficiency with systems and tools used to generate financial reports.
• Ability to interpret financial statements, assess key drivers and trends, and provide actionable conclusions.
• Ability to work in the Buffalo, New York office four days per week in a hybrid arrangement.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
