Director, IT Engineering (AI)

Location: Fully remote with occasional onsite travel required; home office, camera readiness, and high-speed wired internet required. Flexibility to work evenings and weekends may be needed.

Compensation: $125,900–$210,000 USD annually, plus cell phone allowance and eligibility for an annual incentive bonus.

What you will do

• Set the multi-year strategy, operating plans, standards, and roadmap for platform engineering, cloud infrastructure, reliability, endpoint management, observability, automation, data infrastructure, and shared services.
• Build platform engineering capabilities, including cloud landing zones, infrastructure-as-code, standardized environments, self-service services, CI/CD enablement, configuration automation, and policy-as-code.
• Design and govern secure cloud, hybrid, multi-tenant, and multi-entity architectures with appropriate identity, access, data, and administrative separation.
• Establish SRE practices covering service-level objectives, monitoring, incident management, capacity planning, backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity.
• Enable AI, analytics, data warehouses, data lakes, lakehouse platforms, streaming services, and integration infrastructure with governed access, monitoring, auditability, and cost controls.
• Lead M&A due diligence and integration planning while managing budgets, vendors, FinOps, engineering initiatives, and team development.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent education and experience.
• Experience developing IT strategies, roadmaps, budgets, performance measures, and enterprise technology standards.
• Proven success leading, mentoring, developing, and retaining high-performing engineering and infrastructure teams.
• Experience with cloud and hybrid environments, infrastructure-as-code, automation, CI/CD pipelines, system administration, networking, monitoring, incident management, and resilience.
• Knowledge of enterprise architecture, cybersecurity, identity and access management, vulnerability management, technology governance, data protection, and regulated environments.
• Fluent professional written and verbal English is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with Microsoft Azure, Microsoft Entra ID, Microsoft 365, ServiceNow, Databricks, Terraform, and modern monitoring and observability platforms.
• Experience in multi-entity, regulated, higher education, financial services, healthcare, or similarly complex environments.
• Experience with M&A due diligence, technology integration, divestiture, legal-entity restructuring, or technology separation.
• Knowledge of ITIL, SRE, DevSecOps, FinOps, NIST, CIS Controls, or comparable frameworks, plus relevant professional certifications.
