Data Analyst, Internal Audit (Fraud Risk)

Location: Fully remote, with at least 3 hours of overlap with an East Africa timezone. Employment is currently available in eligible countries; listed compensation locations include the United States, United Kingdom, and Kenya.

Salary: United States base salary of $107,070 annually; United Kingdom base salary of £70,250 annually; Kenya base salary of $72,550 annually. Compensation for other countries is benchmarked during the hiring process.

What you will do

• Analyze enrollment, payment, survey, and field-operations data to identify fraud patterns, anomalies, and emerging typologies.
• Design, validate, and maintain recurring fraud-risk indicators with Central Data and operational control owners.
• Investigate cases through data pulls, exposure quantification, event reconstruction, and documented, reproducible analysis.
• Translate validated risk signals into product requirements and partner with Product, Data Engineering, and engineering teams on fraud-detection tooling.
• Back-test indicators against investigated cases and monitor precision, coverage, false-positive rates, and data quality.
• Present clear findings and recommendations to country teams, operations leadership, and senior management.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience in data analysis, audit, risk, or a related analytical role.
• Strong SQL skills and experience working with large operational datasets, including Salesforce, payments, and survey data.
• Experience using Python for reproducible analysis, automation, record linkage, anomaly investigation, or data-quality testing is strongly preferred.
• Experience with analytical notebooks, version control, data visualization tools, and documenting analysis for review and reproduction.
• Ability to turn ambiguous analysis into clear, defensible narratives for non-technical stakeholders and collaborate with Product and Engineering.
• Ability to overlap with an East Africa timezone by at least 3 hours and work from an eligible country.

Nice to have

• Experience in internal audit, fraud or forensic analysis, nonprofit organizations, or international development.
• Experience with Looker, Tableau, Power BI, R, or analytical notebooks.
