TL;DR
Azure Data Engineer (Fabric & Cloud Data Platform) (Microsoft Fabric/Azure Databricks): Designing and operating an enterprise data lakehouse with raw and curated zones, scalable batch pipelines, and integrated legacy transformation logic with an accent on Spark processing, orchestration, and secure handling of identifiable data. Focus on implementing encryption, audit trails, fine-grained access controls, and data foundations for future analytics and data science workloads.

Location: On-site with a customer in Central London, UK-Hayes-Hyde Park Hayes

Salary: £61,079–£81,370 per year, depending on geographic market, skills, knowledge, and experience. Additional compensation may include annual bonuses or incentives, equity awards, and an Employee Stock Purchase Plan.

What you will do

  • Design and optimize enterprise lakehouse architectures using Microsoft Fabric OneLake and Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2.
  • Maintain separate raw and curated data zones while securely handling identifiable data.
  • Build, tune, and monitor large-scale batch processing pipelines with Azure Databricks, Apache Spark, and PySpark.
  • Automate data movement and workflows with Microsoft Fabric Data Factory and Azure Data Factory.
  • Integrate legacy SQL logic, existing data pipelines, models, and transformation logic into modern cloud data platforms.
  • Implement encryption, logging, audit trails, RBAC, ABAC, and row- and column-level security to support future analytics and data science workloads.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure and practical experience with Microsoft Fabric, including OneLake, Data Factory, and Fabric Lakehouse.
  • Deep expertise in Apache Spark, Azure Databricks, distributed computing, memory optimization, and Delta Lake.
  • Advanced SQL skills, including T-SQL and SparkSQL, plus advanced Python and PySpark proficiency.
  • Experience securing sensitive or identifiable data with Azure Key Vault, Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Microsoft Purview.
  • Experience migrating, refactoring, or connecting legacy SQL and stored-procedure logic and existing pipelines to modern cloud platforms.
  • Strong analytical, debugging, communication, and collaboration skills, including cooperation with compliance and security teams.

Nice to have

  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate (DP-203).
  • Microsoft Certified: Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate (DP-600).
  • Experience with Terraform, Bicep, Git, and Azure DevOps for infrastructure-as-code and deployments.
